Get the Look: Two Cream Fireside Chairs Instead of a Sofa
Share
The usual answer to a seating corner is one sofa. This room skipped it. Two low chairs sit out in the open instead, angled around a brown rug, a potted tree and a lot of warm wood. Softer than a sofa would look, and it buys something a fixed sofa can't: a corner that changes with the day.
Why two chairs beat one sofa here
They move. Neither chair has a frame or legs — it's foam all the way down to the floor — so rearranging means dragging, not lifting. Angled apart, the corner is for stretching out. Squared up, as below, it's for two people and one conversation.
Low backs protect a small room. The chair backs stop well below the row of prints on the wall, so the corner keeps its depth and the tree above them stays part of the picture.
One lamp runs the evening. Past sunset the setup needs exactly one thing: the paper lantern in the corner. Warm light on cream suede and the room turns into a different place.

Both chairs are the Caterpillar single seater chair, cut from the same 1973 Caterpillar pattern — all foam, no frame — and available in suede, corduroy or leather, with the beige suede closest to this pair. Any flat-weave rug with a bit of fringe will do the grounding.
